‘Cake’ is not just an edible flour-butter-air-sugar dream in our mouth or collective minds. Or a shapely behind in digital slang.
Sadly reduced to a birthday signifier or a Winter harbinger, cake can be much, much more – an existential hyperthing. It’s the very substance we often wish our reality were made of. But when #RealityIsCake we cringe, binge and flee from the Witch’s Gingerbread House.
In our next issue, we are seeking originally gathered words and/or original images, audio and video about ‘Cake’ in all its rococo, kawai or diabetic glory. Serve the theme any way you want – cream, dream, batter, confection, infection or an AI nightmare. All genre-d and genre-fluid contributions with all possible layerings of media are welcome.
